Discover how deep the world of absinthe can go.
This tasting set brings together three 4 cl absinthes selected to create a progression in intensity, character and complexity: from an approachable clandestine classic to a historic recipe from absinthe’s golden age.
1. Le Chat 54% : Sweet, round and approachable, Le Chat is an ideal starting point. Born from the clandestine tradition of the Val-de-Travers, it represents the style of absinthe that quietly survived throughout the years of prohibition. At 54%, its balanced strength and gentle profile make it an excellent introduction to traditional Swiss absinthe.
2. L’Original 72%: The journey continues with a more powerful expression. L’Original is stronger, spicier and more complex, with an impressive 72% alcohol content. Yet its strength also demonstrates one of the fascinating characteristics of a well-made absinthe: high alcohol does not necessarily mean a harsh or burning taste. Properly prepared with water, its strength carries and reveals its aromas.
3. Ancestrale Verte 70%: Historic 1881 recipe The final step takes you back to absinthe before prohibition. More herbal, layered and complex, Ancestrale Verte is based on a recipe dating from 1881, when absinthe was at the height of its popularity. It offers a glimpse into the style of absinthe that helped make the spirit famous far beyond the Val-de-Travers.
Three bottles. Three levels of complexity. One journey through the history and character of absinthe.
