The Maison de l'Absinthe took part in the 23rd edition of the Absinthiades de Pontarlier, celebrating both the 110th anniversary of the French ban (1915) and the 20th anniversary of Swiss relegalization (2005). The programme included author meetings, lectures, tastings and distillery visits.
This weekend Pontarlier hosts the 23rd edition of the Absinthiades, the great gathering that celebrates the Green Fairy on both sides of the border. The Maison de l’Absinthe is pleased to take part with its team and its stand: come and discover and taste a few Swiss specialities, sweet and savoury.
This edition is held under the sign of history and of sharing: in a year ending in five, the Friends of the Museum commemorate two dates that matter for absinthe — the 110 years since its prohibition in France (voted on 16 March 1915, in the middle of the First World War), and also the 20 years since its re-legalisation in Switzerland, proclaimed on 1 March 2005, which gave the Green Fairy back all her freedom. Two anniversaries that remind us that absinthe has, from its beginnings, walked on two legs, one French and one Swiss.
All through the weekend, meetings with authors and artists, absorbing talks, exhibitions, tastings, a collectors’ fair, unprecedented culinary creations and visits to the partner distilleries await you at the heart of Pontarlier.
